Cue Theme Music

The central message from the Great Gatsby is the domination/choice between wealth and love. Another message would be, live in the moment because the past cannot be changed to obtain the American Dream.
I believe this because:

  • Gatsby was wealth and Daisy was attracted to him years later due to the wealth he maintained
  • In my opinion, Daisy seemed like a gold digger.
  • When Gatsby died no one attended his funeral. Except for his dad, his mailman

GATSBY (pgs. 11-26)

wan: pail
languidly: relaxed but not too relaxed
Hulking:
claret: wine

Daisy looks to a moment but loses it, ad regrets it.
she's self-absorbed

shrilling metallic urgency is the phone ringing while they were at dinner.

*"it'll show you how I've gotten to feel about-- things. Well, she was less than an hour old and Town was God knows where. I woke up out of the ether with an utterly abandoned feeling and asked the nurse right away if it was a boy or a girl. She told me it was a girl, and so I turned my head away and wept. 'All right,' I said, 'I'm glad it's a girl. And I hope she'll be a fool-- that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.'*

parenterally....?: cutting someone off before they had the chance to say something

What happened at dinner?

What're Tom's problems?

Are these people happy? They're all mysteries

I'M IGNITED

Why do we always have the feeling that we have to please others?
What caught my attention the mosta bout Jocelyn's question was the whole idea of why we feel that we do have to please others.
Erika: Why do influencers think it’s ok to change our ideas about beauty?

Down The Rabbit Hole

What really stood out to me was

"All the goodness and the heroism will rise up again then be cut down again and rise up. It isn't that the evil thing wins - it never will - but that doesn't mean it dies."

What really had me think was the part where Steinbeck mentions mechanics of a human species being suicidal. It really set mt brain wheels to turn LOL.....

I went down The Rabbit Hole...
I started to research about how the human species has developed natural defenses against suicide.....

There is also a book about Humanity and Population growth.
